This Baltimore songbird, who earned the nickname "Lady D." from admires, is taking the music world by storm with her jazzy, spiritual and vitage sound. Vocalist, Author and Speaker "D. Wilson" is anything but one dementional. Her live show is just a small taste of all that Wilson brings to the table. Audiences are mesmorized by her incredible ability to bridge music, theater, comedy and inspiration in one show. Sounds like the good old days RIGHT! Born and raised in Baltimore Maryland, Wilson was first introduced to music at the early age of six. She studied voice and opera at the "Nathan Carter School of Music" for five years. In 2006 she was noted in "The Baltimore Sun" for her depiction of Diana Ross in "Beehive" The Musical; in June 2007 she was honored with "The People's Choice Award" by Mayor Sheila Dixon at the "Annual Billie Holiday Competition". In June 2007 she Co-Created, hosted and headlined a jazz night in the heart of Baltimore city called "Mellow Out Monday" which ran for 52 Mondays straight and earned her the title "Ghost of Billie Holiday" by writer Robert Jacobs of "The Baltimore Metro Mix".
Wilson went from local to national when she was sought after by Music Coordinator "Blake Leyh" from HBO's "The Wire" to submit music for the critically acclaimed series. And this young women we love to call "Lady D." is just getting started. Her album "A NEW DAY HAS COME" is set to be released on 12-12-12 and is sure to be an instant classic.
